For his local library’s Summer Reading Program, Rusty was asked to create a Harry Potter magic show targeting teens and families. They had plenty of shows for kids, and wanted something new for everyone else. With the help of several librarians he developed “Wands at the Ready”!
Not a typical magic show. Not even a Harry Potter themed magic show. “Wands at the Ready” is, rather, a magical performance in the Harry Potter universe.
Rusty transforms into the character of a visiting professor from Ilvermorny (the Hogwarts of America). As such, Professor Ammerman has been granted special permission from the Ministry of Magic to present a seminar for No-Majs (muggles) explaining, and demonstrating, the various wizard spells. The attendants will witness Transfiguration, Legilimency, Apparition, Disapparition, Teleportation, and even Levitation!
“Wands at the Ready” was a hit; a summer favorite. The audience participation, light hearted humor, music and sound effects, and, especially, the character of The Professor created an environment that was both charming…and innovative. This summer, 2024, Professor Ammerman has a completely new batch of Magical Demonstrations.
